Severndale approach to the EHCP

All of our pupils at Severndale have an EHCP and we ensure that this document is central to the provision that is provided within the academy.

Please follow this link to find out more about the EHCP process and the role of the local authority in supporting the EHCP:

Embedding EHCPs in our daily practice

We fundamentally believe that the EHCP is the most important document that we hold about every one of our pupils.  It allows us to truly personalise the curriculum offer and ensure that every pupil receives the individual support that make them so special.  In addition it allows us to clearly plan a pathway through the academy that will result in an aspirational and challenging destination outcome.

Every class teacher works on all EHCP targets throughout the curriculum but we also specifically focus on two targets per term that will ensure the individual needs of our pupils are met.

We view the EHCP document as being a working document where the targets are reviewed regularly throughout the academic year and this assists in supporting the progress of our pupils.

We have very positive working relationships with all agencies involved in our pupils EHCP’s and regularly meet with the local authority to look at individual needs where there is a change required in provision.

Our approach to EHCP’s can be summarised by watching this short video:
