Severndale Academy Pupil Voice Response to SEND Review Green Paper
The Government is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND and those in alternative provision and are seeking views on their green paper ‘SEND Review: Right Support, Right Place, Right Time’ about the changes they want to make.
To achieve this ambition, the Government want to work with and hear from:
• children and young people
• parents and carers
• those who advocate and work with the SEND sector
• local and national system leaders
We have collaborated with the SEN Team at Shropshire Council to produce a Vox Pops style video which captures the views of some of our amazing students! ‘Vox populi’ is a Latin phrase that literally means “voice of the people” and what could be more important to a consultation on SEND than the voice of our students?
An easy-read version of the ‘SEND Review: Right Support, Right Place, Right Time’ document can be accessed here.
A ‘Guide for Children and Young People’ can be read here.
Severndale Academy students give their response to the Government’s SEND Review green paper. The questions raised came out of discussions with students, Talking Mats sessions and other non-verbal communication strategies facilitated by our wonderful staff and their close relationships with their students.
