PSB Teaching AssistantAs we know some of our pupils need a little extra support to be ready to learn. With this in mind we have created a positive behaviour support (PBS) team within Severndale. The PBS Team offers in house additional support and interventions designed to remove barriers to learning by working collaboratively with staff to support the wellbeing, emotional development and behavioural needs of our pupils.
Our current interventions on offer include
- Pupil focussed interventions - Analysing behaviours of concerns displayed by pupils and work collaboratively with staff to put tailored strategies and approaches in place to promote regulation and maintain baseline behaviour.
- Nurture groups - Designed to address the social and emotional needs that can create a barrier to pupils’ learning by providing them with the opportunity to build resilience, understand and regulate their emotions, develop essential social skills, and engage with the curriculum. As well as providing academic teaching, nurture groups help children to develop confidence and self-respect, and to take pride in positive behaviour and achieving.
- 1:1 ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)- To support the emotional wellbeing of pupils including pastoral and bereavement support.
- Lego therapy - A collaborative, play based social skills intervention. Designed to improve social competence in children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and other related conditions, however is useful for many children with language or social communication difficulties.
- We also offer more bespoke interventions based on individual need.
