Our school operates a structured arrival window to support the safe and calm transition of pupils with complex needs, many of whom travel via Local Authority transport.
- School gates open (arrival window): 8:50–9:15
- Start of the school day / register opens: 9:15
- Register closes: 9:45
Pupils arriving between 8:50 and 9:15 are supervised by staff and supported to go directly to their classrooms, enabling a calm and settled start to the day.
The official start time of the school day is 9:15. Pupils who are on site at the point the register is taken at 9:15 will be marked present.
This structure reflects the needs of our pupils and the transport arrangements coordinated by the Local Authority. It ensures safe unloading, reduces congestion in the transport bay, and supports pupils to be ready to learn at the start of the school day.
Reporting Absence to Severndale Academy
What Parents and Carers Need to Do
Severndale Academy has a pupil absence line and we would ask all parents and carers to contact the absence line to officially report an absence. The telephone number is 01743 563333 and parents and carers then need to select Option 1. Parents and carers can still email class teachers to inform them of their child’s absence if they wish to.
When a pupil has a medical appointment, Severndale Academy would ask that parents and carers email medical evidence (e.g. appointment letter, text/email confirmation of appointment, etc) to our Attendance Officer:
- Jack Millichap - jack.millichap@lct.education
This will mean that we can officially record the absence appropriately so that it is not classified as unauthorised absence.
